Valley Press is currently closed for submissions. We read new unsolicited work in a month-long window roughly once every two years. The most recent window was in January 2026, and we are still working our way through all the wonderful proposals received during that month, trying to narrow them down to a maximum of three final selections. We hope to inform all authors of our decision by the end of April.

Outside of the windows, we offer a consultancy service (£150). This usually takes the form of a 90-minute meeting with our Director and Founder Jamie McGarry, via phone, video call, or in person, for those able to visit us in sunny Scarborough (or cover travel costs). Having overseen more than 300 publishing projects since 2009, Jamie is in a position to advise exactly how to achieve your publishing goals, whether they involve hitting the bestseller lists, or simply producing a beautiful-looking volume for family and friends.
